Learning About Plants

Students are learning about plants. They dissected Lima beans to find the seed coat, baby plant, and food for the new plant.

The Quilt Story and Timelines

Students read about a treasured quilt and a town that made a quilt. They helped make a WV bird paper quilt. Each student researched WV birds using whatbird.com website. They chose a bird and drew and colored it. Students complete math activities on Thursday mornings. They practice skills on paper and on the computer. They play games emphasizing skills and strategies.

Fairness and Timelines

Students learned about reading timelines, putting events in order, and comparing and contrasting. They worked together in their new learning teams.

Matter matter everywhere

Students have been learning about matter-anything that takes up space and has weight. They observed sinking and floating(finding a rock that floats, dropping water on pennies, balloon work, making spinners, observing O in air, and blowing up a ballon using a mixture of a liquid and solid making gas. Students measured temperatures of hot water and ice water. They made an art project using solid, liquid and gas- air.
